Wow! The response to tonight’s Classics party has been incredible. People from all sorts of different scenes, that don’t normally party together, are going to be at Classics tonight. I’m excited to see people come together under one roof (on that incredible sound system with one of Cali’s best deejays behind the decks)!

Revival Classics! Classic dance music; Brought to you by a West Coast dance music legend, with 20+ years experience behind the decks, Barry Weaver takes control of the sound system in the main room at Faces (best sound system in Sac). Expect original classics from the 80’s and 90’s, modern classics from the last decade, and the future classics of tomorrow… Also featuring Gavin Varitech as the opening act and VJ Mr Jon on the video screens all night long. And for the early birds a special playing of Manuel Göttsching’s E2-E4 in it’s entirety from 9PM – 10PM before the deejays start playing the first records.

CDJ2000 Firmware update 3.1 brings Serato Scratch Live to life on Pioneer!

While those that know me know full well I’m a bigger fan of Traktor Pro than Scratch Live, I have no allegiance to anyone and this is just one more step in the evolution of DJ gear that brings us one step closer to everyone being able to play on the same systems (without having to plug in and unplug decks and DVS soundcards over and over again)…

June 26th: The Begining of a special event…

The Backroom! The brand new event hosted by Revival Nitelife inside Morningstar Recordings’ Saturday weekly ‘ESCAPE’, the Backroom aims to be the only name you need to remember for the best vibe, party, music, and venue for all things underground dance music.

This month and every month going forward we’re doing it differently. No need to bring in some big name that probably isn’t as dope as what we’ve got going in Sac anyways… Sacramento favorites Sukh Banwait, (Lounge ON20), Bobby Martinez (Submerged), & Gavin Varitech (Mixture, Sexy Robots) keeping it real in the Backroom. Revival Nitelife will be bringing signature enhancements to the venue and has a limited guestlist.

This is the ONLY monthly underground music event, at a quality venue, on one of the best sound systems there is, in Sacramento. It will only get better and better from here!!!

New weekly club night opening May 22nd: Escape with special guest DJ from LA!

There is a brand new weekly dance event beginning weekly in Sacramento this weekend. ‘Escape’ inside the Fugu Lounge. If you haven’t heard of this venue it may be because it’s not in downtown/midtown like almost everything else. Fugu is actually in Natomas, very close to Arco Arena. On May 22nd the promoters of this all-new weekly bring us DJ Heavygrinder from LA, a very special guest (and expensive booking we assume) for the grand opening. A bit of a celeb DJ of sorts but not in the talent/music department where she puts those fake “celeb” deejays to shame, H.G. is a REAL deejay…

Revival Nitelife contributors and resident deejays take over their night “The Backroom”, once a month, at Escape and will be holding it down this Saturday for the opening night festivities. Join Gavin Varitech and Vince Lombardi at the grand opening of the Escape at the Fugu Lounge totally FREE when you get on the Revival guestlist! Of course the party is not just for you underground beat freaks, Escape will include more commercially friendly music in the main room every week. So it’s safe for you to bring your friends that don’t quite “get it” just yet. The list gets you into the entire club, not only for Vince and Gavin in The Backroom but for the Heavygrinder party and the main room as well. All 100% free, just get on the list!!

Don’t get me wrong, Sacramento has some fun nightclubs to go to. The new Venue (old Empire), Faces, new Badlands, etc. are all great places (sometimes some sound issues), but they all have a pretty safe design visually. Some are new or have undergone major face lifts that look to WOW the patrons, but nothing comes close to the visual appeal of the new ‘Sound’ in Phuket.

In Phuket, Thailand, you’ll want to hit up the new night spot, the SOUND Night Club. I’ve not sipped Sound’s cocktails or sampled its sounds, but the visual inspiration alone is enough to warrant a visit. The vibrant, fluorescent colored hot spot is the brain child of Orbit Design Studio (http://www.orbitdesignstudio.com), and gives an interplanetary experience of future club culture. I personally prefer a little darker intimate setting, but this place could persuade me to change my ways.

Anyone know the scoop on this whole Azukar vs Kim Kardashian thing???

I can only imagine that Azukar, a club that has been known recently to shell out big $$$ to get celeb performers in the house, didn’t actually print up all those flyers and other promo if they though they didn’t actually have the beautiful (in my opinion) Kim booked for their event. They’ve also produced copies of a contract and claim they made a full $5,000 down payment for the appearance, who are we to say they are lying?

Any readers have the real scoop? This has become a pretty big story and was actually the lead story on the evening news for more than one Sacramento news station last week. While I think that is hilarious, people obviously want to know, and I’m a bit curious as well…

It is pretty sad that this is such a big story here in Sacramento, both for the city as a whole and our nightlife, but since it is we’re going to cover it. That is, after all, what we’re here for! Revival Nitelife, for party info, guestlists, music, deejays, and now apparently, parties that are not happening. haha
