TONIGHT (3.5.10) JJ Flores plays a special pre-opening party at Venue Nightclub

One of our favorite Sacramento club promoters, “Mixture” famous for their 2nd Saturday Artwalk events and massive pool/hotel party blowouts every Summer, is helping to put on a special pre-opening party at the all new Venue (used to be Empire) in Sacramento.
It’s a rarity to see modern club music at a big club in Sacramento on a weekend and, even though JJ’s music is not out cup-o-tea, we’ll be there to support promoters trying to revive (and to check out the new club) Capital City nightlife from the current lows of every club with the same facsimile DJ, playing the same music, in the same way. It is time for a revival and parties like this certainly help…

Sacramento nightclub Empire transforms into: VENUE
Posted by: | CommentsYes, Empire is no more. Closed for the last week and a half for a major change, Venue is not only a new name but the club has been redone from the ground up. We haven’t seen the inside yet, only pictures, so there wont be too much info to share in this post however they tell us the giant nightclub has undergone a $2 million rebirth, including (much needed) an all new sound system and club lighting as well. The new theme for Venue, officially dubbed “Punk Rock Meets Victoria’s Secret,” doesn’t really register with us as we haven’t seen it with our own eyes yet but anything to make Empire a better nightclub is welcomed (it was not one of Revival’s favorite clubs in Sacramento by any stretch).

Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller

The Numark NS7FX comes out of the box with minimal hassle and is mapped with Serato’s ITCH. It has motorized platters, virtual needle dropping and many more cool features, but only time will tell if these can hold up to the rough conditions of nightly use and abuse.
Cool products to help the iPhone/ipod Touch producers

The Sacramento club music scene might soon be using more and more of the new portable gadgetry coming out for iPhones and iPod touches. In addition to some already cool synth apps out there, there’s also two great products coming out from Akai and Alesis which allows a user to plug their device right into a keyboard so that there’s no more fumbling around on the tiny keys on the touchscreen! The Akai iPK25 transforms iPhone or iPod touch into a portable music production studio for mobile music creation. This MIDI keyboard controller gives your hand-held device a two-octave set of piano keys and professional audio outputs, and it works with the Akai Professional SynthStation Studio app.

Now, the iDiscover keyboard, along with the companion iDiscover Keyboard app, has 25 keys and effectively turns your iPhone into a music studio complete with synth-action keys, and pitch and modulation wheels. It doubles as a MIDI controller also.
It will be interesting to see if these types of products catch on since the the main plus of an iPhone is its portability, but I really like how powerful and versatile things are remaining while shrinking.

Making her return to Sacramento will be Miss Dirtybird J. Phlip. Some of you were fortunate enough to see her back in October at Lounge On20 when she was literally knocking the bottles off the wall!!! You definately don’t want to miss her this time around. This event will be the day after the Dirtybird 5 Year Anniversary Party so let’s help Jess celebrate Sacramento style!!!

Since we last posted this you’ve helped Gavin get almost 50 more votes! Yet he still needs more. In order to qualify the DJ needs a minimum of 200 ratings (and then then top 100 entrants with the highest average rating go to the next round), Gavin is sitting at 189, we need to get him at least 11 more 5 star ratings by Sunday!!!

Posted by: | CommentsOur friend and Sacramento party rocker Gavin Varitech needs your help to acquire at least 200 votes in the Next Generation DJ contest being sponsored by Pioneer DJ, DJ Magazine, Beatport.com, and Letsmix.com. Part one of the competition is to record a mix and promote it to the best of your ability through social media, e-mail marketing, ect.
So far fans and friends of Mr Varitech have given him 127 votes since he entered the contest just three weeks ago. But he needs more. The qualify an entrant needs at least 200 ratings (and then then top 100 entrants with the highest average rating go to the next round) so we need to help him get 73 more votes by the January 31st.
