Ace Of Spades is the old Empire club on R Street but with some major changes. The inside has received a huge redesign and update, from the ground up and (what we like) they didn’t forget the sound system. As I write this the club is not yet re-opened for business but will be soon and promises to be open Thursday through Sunday nights and, a major break from the Empire business model, much more a live music venue and no more 18+ parties.

Mason Wong’s newest (and may we say best) venture into nightlife is MiX Downtown. MiX may be the finest “ultralounge” in Sac, it may be the only true ultralounge in Sac actually. Boasting a beautiful interior, staff, a phenomenal EAW sound system (designed and installed by JK Sound in SF), and the ultimate open air rooftoop lounge for 90 miles in any direction MiX is a great destination for grown ups looking for am after work drink at a venue not unlike those one might find in Miami or Las Vegas, or the mature night owl looking to dance till the party is over and the brooms break out!

Formerly an old American Legion hall for decades, followed by the underground nightclub “Elements” for a short time, then Avalon (not one of our favorite clubs), and now the new and improved Splash Bar hosts weekly live shows featuring TOP 40 and dance artists as well as DJ’s. One of the nicest clubs in all of Sacramento with what is definitely the top sound system of any of the bigger clubs in the 916 Splash Bar has made more than just a splash in less than a year of opening as one of the busiest nightclubs in the area every Friday and Saturday night. Oh ya, and don’t forget the terrace!
